Pet Photo Guide

A good portrait starts with a good photo. Follow this guide before uploading your pet’s image.

Best results

  • Use a sharp, high-resolution photo.
  • Photograph your pet at eye level.
  • Choose soft daylight or a bright, evenly lit room.
  • Keep the full face and both ears visible.
  • Use an image that clearly shows your pet’s natural coloring and markings.
  • Upload the original photo whenever possible.

Avoid these photos

  • Blurry, dark, pixelated, or heavily compressed images.
  • Strong filters, screenshots, collages, or photos of printed photos.
  • Harsh shadows or bright backlighting.
  • Faces hidden by hands, toys, blankets, cages, or other pets.
  • Cropped ears, cropped chin, or very distant full-body shots.

Two-pet portraits

Upload one clear photo for each pet. The photos do not need to be taken together. We will compose both pets into one balanced portrait. A second pet adds $20.

What happens if the photo is not suitable?

We review every upload before drawing. If the image is not clear enough, we will email you and request a replacement. Production will not begin until you approve the artwork.

Before you upload

Make sure you have permission to use the photo and check that the pet name and optional date are spelled correctly.
